The last piece of work reminded me of from cradle to grave.
Very thought provoking. Great art! You can tile my bathroom any day! Seriously brill work. Well done xxxxx
a beautiful and thought provoking reminder of our mortality "in the midst of life we are in death" and how in the 21st century we are often so removed from it profound affect on all our lives which in my mind increases our fear. I wish i could have stood in the space. love the boa's (them as wings) angel of death, the photos and the little coffin the whole effect beautifully disturbing. to misquote Bacon. keep deepening the mystery it is the artists job,
Another good piece Em.
Good contrast between the B/W & colour photos. B/W reprisents the numbness of mourning. Colour represents the stage after, more purpose, beginning to look to the future.
Wish I could have seen teh exhibition for myself.
the small coffins at the front were to me signifying children with the feather that is usually worn by the horse pulling the coffin. In contrast the large black coffin to represent an adult burial. The feather boas look like there has been a struggle or attempt to escape death. There is more than one door as if representing many different methods of entry to death?
very interesting to read other peoples interpretations of your work.
TUrbulant times - the right hand pictures look like you are sad and saying goodbye to someone at the cemetry, the left hand set make you look powerful, the way your walking looks as if you have a purpose..your heading somewhere...
I love the contrast between black and white...clinical and purity against death and sadness
The black feathers coming out of the coffin and on the wall almost look as if something is seeping out of the wall...it's like it's alive and quite disturbing
Also the way the feathers go over to the small coffins too...the feathers are less dense, it's like it's trying to reach them but it can't....or it gave up?
The white coffins at the front are quite pretty, i like the peacock feather too...it's only when you think about the fact they are small coffins does it get you thinking about death and children dying and then you feel sad and angry...total opposite feelings
